Children's welcome wall Marion Brandis

“A sign would be necessary in this location anyway, so I wanted to make the sign an artwork, and work with lettering, using the name of the Children’s Centre itself as a starting point. The letter forms were developed with the children of the hospital school and on the ward, and with the staff, parents and siblings. Children from nearby Widden Primary School were also involved. People used their imaginations to embellish the letters, personalize them, employ figurative characteristics and humour for each letter. These letters were then scaled up and executed in tiles and mosaic.”
