First 6 commissions underway (10/7/03)

Following the launch of Leading the Way at the beginning of July, the first six commissions are now under way, all intended to be complete for the opening of the new hospital in the spring of next year.

These include a ‘welcome wall’ for the Children’s Centre by Marion Brandis, a ‘bubble tower’ and lift feature linking the Centre (which is on the first floor) with the ground floor entrance by Andy Hazell, and the vinyl flooring throughout all children areas designed by Sue Kinley. Outside paths leading up to the Centre will be brought to life by David Watson, and public poet Ralph Hoyte is working with metal worker Steve Joyce to create a ‘welcome panel’ for the main entrance. Beatriz Matud is working on designs for personal, private bedside cabinets for the the Children’s Centre.
