Pied Piper

The Pied Piper Appeal was founded in 1992 under the chairmanship of Peter Hickman with the aim of helping sick children in Gloucestershire by providing better care and improved facilities to assist a faster recovery. Since then the Appeal has contributed almost £1/4 million to projects throughout Gloucestershire.

The Pied Piper Appeal is currently raising £2 million for three pursposes:

Children's Centre - Thanks to the Pied Piper Appeal's pledge to raise £1.2million there will very soon be a bright, modern, state of the art Children's Centre at Gloucestershrie Royal Hospital to replace the outdated buildings, cramped and unwelcoming conditions which are currently experienced by children, parents and staff.

Arts Enhancements - The Pied Piper Appeal is raising a target £325,000 towards the arts enhancements for the new Children's Centre delivered through the Leading the Way arts programme.

Nursing Scheme - By supporting the current proposed scheme for palliative nursing within the community and encouraging future community nurse initiatives, more children, together with their families, will receive the maximum support outside the hospital environment. It will also enable children in hospital to return home to their families more quickly.

Looking Ahead - Providing support for the next 30 years. There will always be a need for more than the NHS can supply. Pied Piper will continue to provide funding for childcare initiatives in the county, providing equipment, additional buildings and other enhancements such as educational toys.
