Lead Artist
Simon Ryder was Lead Artist on the Leading the Way programme. Simon is a sculptor, digital and site-specific artist, and a founding member of the artists group artNucleus, who have specialised in commissioning groups of artists to engage with complex locations. artNucleus artists have worked at sites including the National Trust's stately home Osterley Park House, Sofiero castle in southern Sweden, Gloucester livestock market (just after foot and mouth), Brandenburg Cathedral in Germany, and Scolton Park Manor in Pembroke, Wales.
Simon has more recently focused his attention on one area - Gloucestershire, in the belief that a deeper knowledge of one place would enhance his site-specific practice. He has organised and produced work for Gloucester Cathedral, the Mariner's dockside church, the city's Cattle Market (now demolished), outdoor projections for the city-centre, as well as working on farms throughout the county.
