Galleries Julie Matthews

"There will be three areas in the new hospital to display work created through the arts programme: two of these, one in the Children's Centre and the other on the ground floor of the Outpatients wing, will show exhibitions of pictures and photographs; the third, the Digital Gallery, situated near to the main reception desk, will be a large flatscreen monitor used to show video and other screen-based works created within the hospital.

"The intention has been to create a flexible display system that will show the artworks off to their best. By using the same elements for the three gallery areas, including a semi-opaque screen placed against the wall as a backdrop to the artworks, the gallery areas will be distinct from their surroundings."
