Outpatients welcome wall Ralph Hoyte
Funded by Gloucester League of Friends
"For this commission, I am working with the artist and metal worker Steve Joyce to create a wall poem, which is both
informative and welcoming, as well as being a vibrant sculptural piece
in its own right. The text is drawn from the diverse cultures the
hospital serves, and is made from words and phrases that I have
collected from those using the hospital in response to the question:
'What calls to your heart and makes you feel at home?'
"The first draft of the poem is below, but this will change slightly
during the process of adapting it to the metal structure that will
carry the final poem.
"Sea ripples ~ Scent of pines drift over ~ Frogs on lilypads sing ~

Wagging tail ~ Home ~ Cup of tea? ~ Cuddle on the sofa ~ Jerk chicken
rice and peas ~ Fresh cut grass ~ Welcome [in one of 5 Non-European
